Investigations
We are able to undertake targeted investigations into any potential financial irregularities, possible fraudulent activity, whistleblowing allegations, or any other pertinent issue which may arise. This work would seek to provide assurance to academy or school leadership on the extent of any problems and the steps necessary to secure improvements and prevent exposure to similar problems going forward.
All M3 investigations are conducted on the basis of a detailed scope of work being agreed in advance, with regular updates of progress being provided throughout the process. This ensures that investigations are completed promptly, keeping costs to a minimum and reducing the period of disruption and uncertainty often accompanying the need for audit investigations.
Governance Reviews
Governance requirements relating to academies and schools are complex and can appear daunting. M3 are able to offer a targeted review of current arrangements, focusing on significant areas of risk and identifying key areas for improvement.
Risk Management
We are able to assist academies and schools with the formulation of their Risk Management policies and the development or review of their risk registers.
Single Central Record Review
M3 can assist academies and schools with the establishment and operation of their Single Central Record, which formally records the vetting of all persons potentially having contact with children. This is a key and high profile safeguarding procedure and it is of paramount importance that academies and schools are seen to be fully compliant.
Recruitment of key financial staff
M3 are able to offer support to academies with the recruitment of key financial / business appointments, in circumstances where senior leadership teams / Boards of Directors may feel they lack specific knowledge or experience. This support can include assistance with any part of the recruitment process, from the development of job descriptions and person specifications, to final interview and selection.

Completion of FMGS
M3 can assist newly converted academies with the completion of the Financial Management and Governance Statement. This document must be completed and submitted to the EFA within 4 months of conversion.
Review of internal financial procedures / financial manual / scheme of delegation
M3 are able to assist academies and schools with the development of financial procedures, financial manuals and schemes of delegation in accordance with ‘best practice’ and relevant to their specific size and operations.
Interim business management support
M3 can provide interim business management support to academies and schools to cover absences of senior finance / business staff.
Certification of grant claims
Many grant providers require an audited certification that grant usage is compliant with grant conditions. M3 are able to provide this certification, subject to the specific requirements of grant providers.
General consultancy
M3 are able to offer a general consultancy service in relation to financial systems, procedures, structures and controls.
